Overview
Checkmating Alzheimer's ("we," "us," or "our") is a youth-led initiative using chess to raise awareness of, and support research into, Alzheimer's disease. This Privacy Policy explains what information this website collects, how it's used, and the choices you have. It applies only to this website, not to third-party sites we link to.
Information We Collect
We collect information only when you choose to give it to us, through:
- The contact form on our Get Involved page (name, email address, area of interest, and any message you write)
We don't use tracking cookies, ad pixels, or sell any information to third parties. We don't collect email addresses for a newsletter or mailing list. This site uses Vercel Speed Insights to measure general page performance (like load times); this doesn't identify you personally.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information you submit to respond to your message and coordinate volunteer or tournament requests. We don't use it for advertising, and we don't share it with outside organizations except where you've asked us to.
Data Security
We're a small, student-run initiative, and we take reasonable steps to keep the information you share with us safe, including limiting who has access to form submissions. That said, no online system is perfectly secure, and we can't guarantee absolute protection of data transmitted through this site.
Third-Party Links
This site links out to organizations we partner with, including the Alzheimer's Association (alz.org) for donations. That organization has its own privacy practices, and we encourage you to review them separately, we aren't responsible for how they handle your information.
Children's Privacy
This site is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your Choices
If you'd like us to delete information you've previously submitted, just reach out to us directly and we'll take care of it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy occasionally as the initiative grows. We'll update the date at the top of this page when we do.
